Crimson banners whip in the wind above a vast, ochre landscape. The year is 1582. In 16th century Japan, Lord Hidetora Ichimonji, a powerful and aging warlord, decides to relinquish his power and divide his kingdom among his three sons: Taro, Jiro, and Saburo.
